Hike to Gran Fanes Alta Badia

You leave from the carpark in the village of Sarè which is not far from the centre of San Cassiano. From here you leave the hustle and bustle behind you and take path number 11 where you cross the forests close to the Sass Dlacia campsite until you arrive at Capanna Alpina. Here you'll encounter the silence of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags nature park. The pathway crosses the forest surrounded by Piz La Varela and Piza dl Lech in order to reach Col de Locia which is at 2,069 metres. From here, the valley broadens and passing through the thick mountain pine vegetation you reach the Ju dal Ega which is surrounded by Gran Majarëi, a multitude of mass of exceptional dimensions scattered throughout the surrounding pastures. The pathway starts to descend towards the village of Gran Fanes where the streams and lakes make this one of the most beautiful parts of the whole park. Not far from the lakes you'll find the Ücia de Gran Fanes where you can take a break and sample some of the specialities of the area.
